David Edgar reacts after Sevilla made approach for Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos

David Edgar has suggested that he would take more than £7million Sevilla are trying to offer for Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos in the summer.

The Heart & Hand founder and official media partner of the club wrote on his Twitter account on June 22 that Morelos either will sign a new deal or the club will have to cash in on the player.

El Chiringuito TV reported on June 22 that Sevilla have reportedly made an offer of €8million (£7m) and the Bears striker is interested in joining them.

Edgar wrote on Twitter: “Haven’t had a single regret about turning down the Lille bid after what Alfie gave us the last two years. However with a year left he either signs an extension or we have to cash in. Will take more than €8m right enough!”

Morelos has only a year left on his current deal at Ibrox and he needs to make a big decision on his future.

Edgar is absolutely spot on here. Either he needs to extend his stay by signing a new contract, or he must let the club know that he wants to move on.

Morelos has been a great player for the club, and the Bears won’t stand in the way if he wants to leave.

However, every player has a price, and Morelos is a bankable asset. Surely the club must look to get closer to the amount they received for selling Nathan Patterson to Everton.

The Colombian striker has scored over 100 goals for the club, and he has got an astonishing scoring record. Last season, despite his injuries, he managed 19 goals in all competitions for the club.

Ideally, Rangers should look to tie him down on a new deal and then sell him at a high profit.

The Gers need to sign a quality striker in the summer, irrespective of whether Morelos stays or goes. It has been a quiet window for them so far, and the club need to do some business quickly.

In other Rangers news, a season-long controversy has now developed into a new phase after recent developments.
