Rangers move would suit Stephen Odey as he prepares to leave Randers this summer

A move to Rangers could suit Randers forward Stephen Odey as he looks to move on this summer, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper has reported in their print edition [20 June, pg. 47] that joining fellow Nigerians Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey would be ideal with Giovanni van Bronckhorst keen to add a new striker to the mix.

Ross Wilson is reported to have opened talks over a deal for Odey [All Nigeria Soccer], who is now also ready to continue climbing the ladder in his career after shining in Denmark.

Parts of the report read: “Rangers boss Gio van Bronckhorst is keen to add to his attacking options with Alfredo Morelos entering the final year of his contract in Govan.

“But Odey is keen to continue climbing the ladder and a move to Europa League runners-up Gers, where he would join compatriots Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey, would suit.”

Clear target.

Rangers have made it no secret with what part of the squad they are looking to strengthen this summer.

The Bears have been linked with numerous new strikers, with Van Bronckhorst said to be particularly keen on bolstering his options in the final third.

It is clear to see why, too.

Alfredo Morelos is in the final year of his deal but is also coming back from a major injury towards the end of the 2021-22 season, so may not be at 100% his best.

The same applies for Kemar Roofe, who also suffered consistent problems throughout the season, with more consistency needed desperately at Ibrox.

Odey smashed home 13 goals last season in Denmark, and with Cedric Itten being moved on, that money brought in and saved could fund a move for the Nigerian.

Let’s not get carried away after talks were suggested, but this is certainly one to watch.

In other Rangers news, scouts at Ibrox are said to have watched this ‘immense’ powerhouse numerous times ahead of a potential major transfer
