Rangers hold contract talks with Allan McGregor, with both parties keen on extension
Rangers have finally started contract talks with Allan McGregor over a new deal, according to Rangers Review.
The veteran keeper is into the final days of his current contract, with fears starting to grow that he would choose to retire or move on from Ibrox.
There is said to be no coaching role in the pipeline alongside any playing commitments for McGregor, who will continue the battle for the number one shirt.

Ross Wilson looks set to seal another contract deal.
The Gers chief worked his magic to get Connor Goldson to commit his long-term future to the club, and now it looks as though McGregor will be sticking around too.
It will most likely be another year added on to his stay, rather than a multi-year agreement though.
With Andy Firth already gone and Robbie McCrorie also potentially leaving, it would leave Jon McLaughlin as the keeper race for the number one shirt begins again.

Smart.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst is making all the right calls before dipping his toes into the transfer window.
Keeping McGregor around is perfect, with the keeper one will never let standards slip at Ibrox with his impeccable leadership skills from behind the defence.
If someone isn’t cutting their weight, they will know about it and that keeps standards high.
Age is just a number too, with the keeper still pulling off some of the best saves we have ever seen in the last couple of years despite being now over 40 years old.
With both sides keen to get a deal done, it is one that could progress very quickly.
We expect that an announcement may not be too far away with the hope that there could be just some final details to iron out before we crack on with another year of McGregor.
The waiting game is officially starting on this one.
In other Rangers news, scouts at Ibrox are said to have watched this ‘immense’ powerhouse numerous times ahead of a potential major transfer
