Besiktas in talks with Rangers for signing of Alfredo Morelos

Rangers are in negotiations with Besiktas for the transfer of star striker Alfredo Morelos, according to Turkish media outlet Fanatik.

The Colombia international has been linked with a move away from the club in the ongoing transfer window as he enters the final 12 months of his contract.

As per the latest report, Besiktas are now in negotiations with the Gers for the transfer of the 25-year-old and are also set to meet the Bufalo in the next week.

However, they are likely to face competition from the likes of rivals Fenerbahçe and Spanish club Sevilla who are also interested in making a move for Morelos.

In the recently concluded season with the Rangers, Morelos scored 12 goals and provided seven assists across 26 appearances in the Scottish League.

He played 71% of the minutes for Rangers and participated in 28% of the overall goals for the club [Transfermarkt].

The Colombia international isn’t just a striker that stays in the box and waits for his move. He is a striker who likes involving his wingers and creative midfielders in play. The 25-year-old can also play as a false nine and come deep for his wingers to attack the spaces.

These are the kind of traits that makes Morelos a key component of the Rangers’ success in the last two seasons and it will be extremely hard for the club to replace him.

However, with only 12 months left on his current deal, the Gers’ management must ensure that they get the price possible to let go of the star striker and replace him with an equally versatile player.

In other Rangers news, the club are ‘not convinced’ by a key first-team player and an early termination of his contract is extremely likely.
