Rangers would sell Robby McCrorie to Manchester United for fee north of £1m

Rangers would reportedly sell goalkeeper Robby McCrorie to Manchester United for a fee north of £1million.

That’s according to Breaking The Lines journalist Patrick Caskie who claims that it will be difficult for the Ibrox side to reject the offer given the fact that he’s got only a year left on his current contract.

The 24-year-old has failed to establish himself as a legitimate contender for the number 1 jersey and may well be on his way out after the Scottish Sun reported United’s interest in him.

Caskie wrote via Twitter, “If Man Utd offer any sort of decent fee it would seem difficult to say no given that he only has 12 months left on his deal and has yet to make any real inroads towards the no.1 jersey.

“If he has no interest in extending then surely anything above £1m and he’s gone. If he’s open to a conversation about extending then it changes but even still anything pushing £1.5-2m and you have to flirt with the idea of parting ways.”

Sell him

There was a time when it seemed like the 24-year-old was going to be the next big thing at Ibrox and fans were excited.

Seeing an ageing goalkeeper still being the first choice did not sit too well with the supporters and they expected McCrorie to succeed him.

Even Steven Gerrard was waxing lyrical over the Scottish keeper and tipped him for great things at the club.

He said in 2019, “Ross McCrorie is going nowhere. When we came in, we inherited a player that was hurt mentally. He’d had a tough time in certain games last season and his confidence was affected.

“He’s got an incredible future here – a potential future captain – and he won’t be going anywhere else than Rangers.”

Time has proven Gerrard wrong and he now looks to be on the cusp of an exit.

If Manchester United’s interest is genuine, Gers must do whatever they can to drive up his price and then cash in on him this summer.

In other Rangers news, the club are ‘not convinced’ by a key first-team player and an early termination of his contract is extremely likely.
