Offers on table as Rangers push to complete deal for Erik Botheim – BBC Scotland journalist Fraser Fletcher

Rangers have placed their offer on the table to secure the major new signing of Erik Botheim, according to Fraser Fletcher.

The BBC Scotland journalist has reported that Marseille are also keen on the free-agent striker, with offers coming from around Europe to rival the Bears.

Botheim is now set to review his options before making his choice and signing on the dotted line for the next stage of his career after tearing up his contract with Krasnodar.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Fletcher shared the news that clubs are now waiting on a final decision before a deal is finalised.

“Latest – Offers are now on the table for Erik Botheim,” he wrote.

“I’m told Marseille keen and pushing hard. Offers from all over Europe alongside Rangers.

“A much-wanted man. Choice now rests with him. Clubs await news of the strikers’ decision.”

Get it done.

Wow, this would be a perfect piece of business.

Ross Wilson also has a way of finding these deals and making sure that Rangers get their way, although Marseille will prove to be tough competitors over in France.

The Ibrox chief would likely have been hoping that putting an offer on the table would put his side ahead of the curve, but it looks as though many clubs across Europe have had the same idea.

Rangers need to strengthen desperately in the final third, Giovanni van Bronckhorst would have made that very clear in any transfer planning this summer.

Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe suffered serious injuries last season, and that left Joe Aribo playing as a false nine through some of our most important games.

Having a third man who is as powerful as Botheim would be ideal, and this one could move very quickly over the weekend if he makes his mind up.

This is certainly one to watch.
