Rangers legal battle with SPL sponsor Cinch racks up £200k in legal fees

Rangers’ long-standing legal row with SPL title sponsor Cinch has cost over £200,000 in legal fees as revealed by The Times.

The Ibrox side refused to wear any of the sponsor’s branding due to a conflict in interest with Douglas Park’s own firm.

The Gers have received “full vindication” after a revised sponsorship deal was announced which will allow Rangers to be the only top-flight club to receive income from the deal without having to carry their branding.

However, as revealed by The Times on Thursday 16 June the legal row is set to cost in excess of £200,000.

Finally over

It is good that Rangers’ legal battle is finally over with the Ibrox side now looking to focus their attention to what promises to be a busy summer.

Of course, it is hypothetical, but that £200,000 in legal fees would certainly go some way to helping the Gers keep hold of some of their biggest stars.

The fact that Rangers don’t lose any income from the result of the trial is superb news for the club going forward.

Sponsorship deals are vital in allowing football clubs to run sustainably and the news will allow Giovanni van Bronckhorst to be completely aware of the funding that he has to work with this summer and going forward.

The Rangers’ boss first priority has to be to attempt to keep Joe Aribo, Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos at the club.

All three are out of contract in the summer of 2023 and Rangers must do everything they can to tie them down to new deals this summer.

If the trio won’t commit their futures to the club then they must be sold this summer.

In other Rangers news, the Gers have their sights on a new defender who’s been deemed as surplus to requirements south of the border.
