Rangers joined by ten English clubs in race to sign Sunderland striker Ross Stewart

Rangers and ten English clubs are reportedly in the race to sign Sunderland striker Ross Stewart this summer.

According to Rangers Review, while there has not been a concrete offer for the 25-year-old, a host of Championship sides are widely considering the opportunity of securing his services.

Gers are also believed to be in the market for a striker and have identified the Scotland international as a potential option.

Battle heats up

Stewart has been in stellar form this season as he’s bagged 24 goals and provided another five assists en route to Sunderland’s promotion from League One.

Due to his performances, he’s also been labelled “Excellent” and it would be interesting to see how he fares at a bigger club.

While there’s a vast difference between that division and the SPFL, it’s apparent that he knows where the back of the net is.

He’s a potent goal scorer who appears to be in the right positions whenever his team needs him to grab a goal.

This is exactly the kind of player Rangers need next season, given Alfredo Morelos’ injury concerns.

While Stewart may not be as good as the Colombian, he would add a different dimension to this Gers attack and could even work in tandem with Morelos.

It remains to be seen if he’s open to leaving England and move north of the border to Ibrox.

Given the fact that he’s a Scotland international, playing in his home country could be better for his prospects of becoming an icon for the national team.

In other Rangers news, the club are ‘not convinced’ by a key first-team player and an early termination of his contract is extremely likely.
