Rangers and Aston Villa set for FIFA clash over Rory Wilson transfer
FIFA could be forced to intervene in the imminent transfer of teenager Rory Wilson from Rangers to Aston Villa according to Glasgow Times. Glasgow Times [June 13].
The 16-year-old striker is set to leave Ibrox this summer and join former Ibrox first-team manager Steven Gerrard in the Premier League, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that personal terms are agreed and a move will become official on July 1st.
But a fresh report claims that the two clubs are on a collision course over the validity of that contract and that world governing body FIFA may have to get involved to settle the dispute.

Rangers are adamant that the player is registered to Rangers until the end of the year, when he will turn 17-years-old and be free to sign professional terms. That means Villa can’t sign him without agreeing a compensation package with Rangers, which they haven’t done.
Villa are confident that the rules will be seen as “prohibitively restrictive” and will move to register the player with the FA, but that will be rejected by the SFA because of the rules in place and that means FIFA will need to get involved.
Boom
If the player wants to leave then there’s not much we can do, but the least we should do as a club is hold our ground and ensure we get the best possible deal we can.
Wilson scored 49 goals for club and country over the course of the 2021/22 season and while he has spoken of his wish to move down south and challenge himself in England, that doesn’t mean he should be able to go easily.

The club have put a lot of money into aiding his development and making him the player he is, and they deserve to be paid accordingly for doing so.
Villa have exploited the fact that our former boss is there and moved for our best young star, but they should have to pay. Just because they don’t like the rules doesn’t mean they shouldn’t follow them.
It will be interesting to see how FIFA deal with the situation, but ultimately Wilson will be playing his football in the Midlands going forward.
