Birmingham line up shock swoop for Jack Butland as Rangers interest fails to materialise ‘concrete’ offer
Rangers are yet to make a “concrete” offer to sign Crystal Palace goalkeeper Jack Butland, according to Alan Nixon.
The Sun journalist has reported that a shock interest from Birmingham is set to make this into a transfer battle, with Bournemouth also in the running.
The Bears have been mentioned as a potential destination for the England international, with Allan McGregor’s future still in the air as his contract comes to an end.

Writing on his official Patreon page on Sunday evening [12 June], Nixon shared the latest as clubs get set for a transfer war for the keeper.
“Birmingham City are making a surprise loan move for Crystal Palace keeper Jack Butland – one of their favourite sons,” he wrote.
“Butland wants first-team football and his chances are reducing at Palace where they have lined up Sam Johnstone on a free transfer. Blues hope to strike a deal and persuade Butland that a drop back to the Championship will give him the action he wants.
“Bournemouth and Rangers have also taken an interest in Butland but are yet to make a concrete offer.”

Get it done.
This would be the perfect signing.
Ross Wilson has pulled off some brilliant business in recent years, but offering Butland the chance to come to Ibrox and potentially play in the Champions League as well as challenge for numerous pieces of silverware could be a masterclass.
Butland was given some chances by Patrick Vieira in the Premier League 2021-22 season, but he could play every single week in Glasgow if he makes that step.
It would be much better than going to Birmingham, a club in crisis in the Championship with no real hopes of pushing for promotion to England’s top flight.
John Lundstram has made the move from south of the border to Ibrox in 2021, and he has quickly become a cult hero, now could it be time for Butland to do that too?
It wouldn’t be easy to fill the gloves of McGregor, but he would have a great chance to do so.
In other Rangers news, this multi-million bid for one Bears player may have been made to unsettle him at Ibrox
