Rangers must act quick and sign Calvin Bassey replacement in Stoke City’s Josh Tymon

Rangers must look to secure the signing of Stoke City defender Josh Tymon as early as they can in the summer transfer window.

The Gers have been heavily linked with a move for Tymon, according to a report published by Football Insider.

The report stated that Stoke City are reluctant to sell their star defender but the Europa League runners-up can get their man for a fee in the region of £6million.

The 23-year-old signed a contract extension with the Potters last November, keeping him with the club until 2025.

Long-Term Fullback Solution

Tymon is one of the most exciting young players at the Potters. He is considered to be one of the top English talents in the Championship, and former Leeds striker Noel Whelan told Football Insider he could be “ready-made” for the SPFL.

With Rangers possibly due to lose their star player Calvin Bassey in the summer transfer window, it makes a lot of sense for the club to make a move for someone like Tymon.

Just like Bassey, he has also got a great future and will only get better if he makes his move to Ibrox Stadium where he will have a chance to work under a manager like Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who played the position himself.

In the recently concluded season, Tymon scored a goal and provided four assists in 43 appearances [Transfermarkt].

The England under-20 international averaged 1.3 tackles and 0.8 interceptions per game in the recently concluded Championship season. Moreover, he averaged 1.3 clearances per game in the 2021-22 Championship with Stoke City [Whoscored].

In other Rangers news, the Gers want to raid this billionaire-owned club to sign a new left-back who could be Bassey’s replacement.
