Pieter Huistra wants ‘total football’ at Rangers in Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s first full season
Former Netherlands winger Pieter Huistra believes that Giovanni van Bronckhorst will produce the goods for Rangers in the upcoming season.
The 47-year-old joined the Gers in November last season after Steven Gerrard left for Premier League outfit Aston Villa.
Former Ibrox winger Huistra was told Record Sport that looking at Van Bronckhorst’s time at Feyenoord, Rangers fans must be excited.

“When Gio first went into Feyenoord, the first season he was looking more at the defence, organising it and tightening it up.
“But the second season is always the time you get a better idea of what the coach wants to do, especially in situations like Gio’s at Ibrox when he’s come in halfway through the season.
“With all the European games, he didn’t have so much time to work with the players and put his full spin on it.
“So it will be interesting to see what his plans are for the team. I’m just as curious as the fans.
“I hope he develops a nice footballing team involving total football with defence, attack, passing. That would be great to see.”

Title challenge
Rangers brought themselves back into the elite conversation in the recently concluded season as, although van Bronckhorst could only lead them to a second-place finish in the league a year after winning it, they reached the Europa League final and lifted the Scottish Cup.
To go one step ahead, Van Bronckhorst is keen on making a few notable signings to freshen things up but, regardless of the additions that Rangers want to bring to their team, the fans will be hoping to see a more attacking brand of football.
As last season went on, the Scottish club at times found it difficult to break down stubborn opponents, hence the failed defence of the league title.
It was evident in the final of the Europa League as well where they came second best against Eintracht Frankfurt.
The fans will be hoping that with the addition of a few players and the return of some of the individuals, Rangers will have more firepower to take the game to the opposition.
In other Rangers news, one of van Bronckhorst’s current first-team regulars has refused to rule out the possibility of leaving Ibrox this summer.
