Ross Stewart would be perfect replacement if Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos leaves

With only a year left on his deal, Rangers have a big decision to make on the future of Alfredo Morelos.

The Colombian striker has been simply outstanding for the club for all these years, but he may now feel that the time has come for him to test himself elsewhere.

The 25-year-old is too good a player to leave the club on a free transfer. The Gers should allow him to move on if there’s an offer on the table.

Given his goalscoring record and growing reputation as a fantastic goalscorer, Rangers can expect to get a decent chunk of money from his sale.

With Kemar Roofe and Fashion Sakala already there as decent back-ups, the club must do everything to sign Sunderland striker Ross Stewart.

He is also 25 years of age, and like Morelos, has been in terrific form. In 2021-22, he netted 26 goals for the club and played a pivotal role in taking the Black Cats to the Championship.

Like Morelos, he has one more year left on his deal at the Stadium of Lights and could be interested in switching to Ibrox if there’s a good offer on the table.

Rangers

The Bears are interested in signing the exciting striker, with the Daily Record reporting on 27 May that Sunderland look to fend off potential suitors.

Alex Rae hailed him as “prolific” for his contributions last season while speaking to Daily Record on 9 June (page 44).

Considering age, contract, form, and even playing style, Stewart seems just the perfect player to replace Morelos, if he moves on.

In other Rangers news, contrary to previous reports, this Light Blues icon is yet to open talks with the club over a new deal and he won’t want to take the incentive they are offering either.
