Rangers: Europa League final kiosk closures won’t have independent inquiry

UEFA will not launch an independent inquiry into why Rangers fans were without food and water during the Europa League final, according to the Express.

The searing Spanish sun in Seville had plenty of Glaswegians gasping for a refreshing cold drink but the kiosks around the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan remained closed which left some supporters drinking from taps in the bathroom.

UEFA duly apologised for the inconvenience and announced that it would review the situation but they have ruled out conducting an independent inquiry.

Even though Rangers and their opponents on the night Eintracht Frankfurt, whose fans were also affected by the problems, have teamed up to provide a dossier to UEFA on the evening [Express] they are sticking to their guns.

“UEFA is in contact with both finalist clubs, as well as with FSE and the local authorities to review these issues,” a spokesperson for UEFA told the Express.

Typical

Who would have thought it? UEFA are choosing to take the easy road that makes them look good in the right light.

They are doing exactly the same thing with the Champions League final and the horrifying police violence aimed at Liverpool fans and it is just not good enough.

The only reason they wouldn’t inquire about this incident would be because they have something to hide so they are already beginning to look shaky with this stance.

Our fans had to endure plenty on that night with a nail-biting game and a penalty shootout enough to make the coolest of supporters sweat without the added heat of a Spanish spring evening and no liquids to keep cool with.

Let’s hope that UEFA realises their error in this regard and are able to backtrack on their inquiry decision and a true reason as to why the error was made and plans are put in place to prevent it from happening ever again.

In other Rangers news, negotiations have begun between the Light Blues and a Bundesliga side over the potential signing of an unpredictable 21-year-old winger.
