Rangers want to sign Stoke left-back Josh Tymon amid Borna Barisic transfer twist
Rangers are in the hunt to sign Stoke City left-back Josh Tymon – but they might need to sell Borna Barisic to fund a deal, according to Alan Nixon.
The Sun journalist reported via his Patreon account on Sunday (5 June) that Giovanni van Bronckhorst wants to improve his side this summer and Tymon, 23, is high on the Ibrox shortlist.
However, it is understood that in order to afford a deal for the former Hull City ace, Rangers will either need to qualify for the Champions League group stages or sell Barisic.

On 4 January, The Sun reported that Rangers turned down a £2million bid from Watford for Barisic with the Gers valuing the 29-year-old at £5million.
Do it
Barisic did perform a bit better towards the end of the 2021/22 season but ultimately, the Croatia international has been on a decline for over a year now.
The former Osijek left-back’s performance away against Celtic in the Scottish Premiership in February was an abomination and he was rightly hooked by van Bronckhorst at half-time.
He only really got game-time towards the end of the season because Calvin Bassey moved into the centre-back position and when that happened, he did do better.
Having Bassey to cover him definitely helped but at the end of the day, the Gers cannot afford to have passengers in their side like Barisic.

Selling the Croatian will be easier said than done because a Premier League club was only offering £1.5million up front for him in January with the remaining £500,000 being made up in add-ons.
His value will have declined since then due to his form and him being six months closer to his contract expiring in 2024.
Tymon’s done well at Stoke and shone in the 2021/22 season.
He scored three goals and supplied four assists in 48 appearances across all competitions and is known as a marauding, attack-minded full-back.
He’ll be an upgrade on Barisic and £5million is a good fee.
In other Rangers news, Aston Villa are expected to wrap up a deal to sign this Gers player in the coming weeks.
