Alan Nixon transfer update on Joe Aribo potential move from Rangers to Crystal Palace
Alan Nixon has suggested that Joe Aribo’s potential move from Rangers to Crystal Palace isn’t “live” at present despite reported interest from the Eagles.
On Friday [The Athletic, 3 June], it was revealed that there is serious interest from Patrick Viera’s side in bringing the 25-year-old Nigerian to Selhurst Park.
However, according to Nixon, any potential deal is a long way from being completed.
The Sun journalist responded to a tweet asking for an update on the Aribo situation: “Don’t think the Aribo is live right now,” said Nixon.
He must stay
Losing the Nigerian would be a massive blow for Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Rangers.
Aribo has enjoyed a superb season for the Gers having notched nine goals and eight assists in the 2021-22 campaign.
However, with the 25-year-old’s current contract running until the summer of 2023, a decision needs to be made at Ibrox.
Sadly, Rangers won’t be able to match the wages the versatile attacker could potentially receive in the Premier League.

Even midtable Crystal Palace would be able to offer the Nigerian a more lucrative deal than he would receive if he decided to remain in Scotland.
Rangers have sadly left contract negotiations with Aribo a little too late.
As a result, the club hierarchy may have to consider selling their star man this summer to prevent losing him for free next year.
Losing a player of Aribo’s quality and young age is simply not acceptable.
If he won’t sign a new deal at Ibrox then the Gers must seriously consider moving him on this summer.
In other Rangers news, Aston Villa are expected to wrap up a deal to sign this Gers player in the coming weeks.
