Rangers have no intentions of selling Joe Aribo, £20million could change everything

Rangers have no intentions to sell Joe Aribo despite reports of strong interest from Crystal Palace, according to The Fourth Official.

The online source has reported that the Bears instead plan to open contract talks with the Nigerian over extending his stay for another year with his deal going into its last season.

However, it is suggested that a £20million offer would be “extremely difficult” to turn down at this stage given the current contractual status of Aribo.

Writing on their official Patreon page, The Fourth Official have shared the latest state of play on the future of the Nigerian international at Ibrox.

“While there was bound to be interest in the Nigerian given he has only one year left on his contract, Rangers have no intention of selling Aribo,” they wrote. “The hope is to get the midfielder on a new contract and keep him on for atleast one more season.

“I can confirm that Rangers have not received an offer from Crystal Palace (or any other side) for Aribo yet.

“Obviously, if an offer somewhere around £20m comes in, it would be extremely difficult to say no given Aribo only has a year left in his contract. But Rangers are under no pressure to sell Aribo at this time.”

Wilson work begins.

Ross Wilson is going to have to pull off yet another masterclass here.

When everyone believed that Connor Goldson was certain to leave the club this summer, a four-year deal was agreed upon at the 11th-hour, something we still can’t believe.

Big names such as Aribo are now going into their final seasons in 2022-23, and if we can extend his contract before next summer, that would leave us less stressed.

£20million would be a huge offer though, and if someone such as Crystal Palace do come in with that, Rangers would be silly to say no.

Aribo played his part last season, but he wasn’t at his 100% best and that sort of value cannot be ignored for a player with only one year left on his stay at the club.

That could help Giovanni van Bronckhorst bring in three, if not four top-quality players for his squad.

This is certainly one to watch, but with no immediate pressure to sell players, it will take huge money for anyone, not just Aribo to be allowed to leave Ibrox.

In other Rangers news, this multi-million bid for one Bears player may have been made to unsettle him at Ibrox
