South American striker Mateo Cassierra wants to join Rangers this summer

PFC Sochi striker Mateo Cassierra reportedly has plenty of options on the table but wants to join Rangers this summer.

According to the 4th Official, claims that Gers would pay £8.5million for the Colombian are wide off the mark and they will be looking to sign him on the cheap.

Leon Balogun is also understood to fancy staying on at the Ibrox after a tricky 2021/22 season.

Via Twitter, The 4th Official wrote, “When pressed on how close the move is in reality, I was told that the player has several options but Rangers is where Cassierra wants to move.

But, Rangers would not be paying anywhere close to £8.5m for the striker.

“Also, Balogun wants to stay.”

Rangers must do whatever they can to secure his services as soon as possible.

The report says that there are a number of clubs that are keen on him, but if he prefers a move to Ibrox, that makes things easier.

Alfredo Morelos’ future remains uncertain at the moment and it does make sense for Gers to keep their options open here.

Even if he stays, given his injury record, it does make sense to sign his Colombian counterpart.

Cassierra could learn a few things from Morelos and that will only benefit the club in the long run.

It may even tempt Morelos to stay if signings are made that make him feel more comfortable inside the dressing room.

He undoubtedly is one of the best players and Giovanni van Bronckhorst must do whatever he can to keep him at Ibrox.

In other Rangers news, the club are ‘not convinced’ by a key first-team player and an early termination of his contract is extremely likely.
