Rangers are ‘playing a blinder’ with their early transfer business says Andy Little

Andy Little believes Rangers are “playing a blinder” after extending Connor Goldson’s and Steven Davis’ contracts.

The Gers confirmed on Wednesday [1 June] that Goldson has penned a new four-year deal at Ibrox after he had been rumoured [Football League World, 1 June] to be making a move to newly-promoted Premier League side Nottingham Forest.

Goldson followed teammate Davis who signed a one-year extension on Tuesday [31 May] and Little believes it is excellent early business from Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Little tweeted on Wednesday [1 June]: “First Steven Davis now Connor Goldson.

“Rangers are playing a blinder.

“You’ve got to love this time of year in football.”

Great start

It has been a superb start to Rangers’ summer recruitment and that’s before a new signing has walked through the door at Ibrox.

Resigning Goldson and Davis will almost feel like new signings for van Bronckhorst.

If the defender had departed the club it would’ve provided the Rangers boss with another transfer headache heading into what promises to be a busy summer at Ibrox.

Goldson committing his future to Rangers displays that some loyalty does remain in football, with there being no doubt Goldson could’ve had a significant wage increase if he had moved to the Premier League.

The Gers have a solid defensive unit at present and can now focus on other aspects of their squad.

Adding more depth in an attacking sense has to be near the top of van Bronckhorst’s to-do list.

Joe Aribo has done well in a central role but he is ultimately playing out of position.

Kemar Roofe is a good option but Rangers need to add another dynamic to their attack, potentially a bigger more physical striker.

In other Rangers news, a player has confirmed his links to the club and wants a move that is good for him sorted within a week.
