John Souttar’s Rangers arrival should spell the end of Filip Helander’s Ibrox career
John Souttar’s arrival should spell the end for Filip Helander’s Rangers career after the Gers confirmed the signing of the Hearts defender.
The Gers confirmed a pre-contract agreement with Souttar in January and the 25-year-old looks set to be a mainstay in the Gers defence in the 2022-23 campaign.
With Souttar arriving at Ibrox, Giovanni can Bronckhorst will surely be looking to offload 29-year-old Helander.

The Sweden international has only featured six times this season and will most likely sit down the pecking order at Ibrox this season.
At 29, it is very unlikely that he will improve any further to make a significant impact on first-team proceedings at Ibrox.
His contract is due to expire in the summer of 2023 which should lead the Rangers boss to move the defender on this summer.

The Gers need to be looking at a major overhaul this summer and moving on ageing out of contract players.
There should be a focus on replacing the likes of Helander with a younger alternative, potentially giving some of their youth players an opportunity.
Keeping the 29-year-old on their books for the coming season makes very little sense.
After 35 appearances in three years at Ibrox, it has hardly been a signing that has worked out and it’s time to accept that he should move on.
With van Bronckhorst unlikely to have a huge budget this summer, he will have to reshape his squad by moving players on and being clever in his recruitment.
