Jamie O’Hara clashes with Rangers fan live on talkSPORT after Scotland defeat v Ukraine

Jamie O’Hara was left stunned when a Scottish-born Rangers fan told him on talkSPORT he supports the England national team.

Scotland were knocked out of World Cup qualifying on Wednesday night (1 June) when they lost 3-1 to Ukraine at Hampden Park.

While it was a massive blow for most of Scotland, there was one Scot who revelled in Ukraine’s victory because he’s decided to support the England national team instead.

“What a night, it couldn’t have been a better start to the Jubilee Weekend. Unbelievable to see Scotland out,” said Bob the Gers fan, as shown in a clip on the talkSPORT Twitter account on 1 June.

Dean Saunders was visibly confused, saying: “I’m trying to work this out. Bob, are you an England fan?”

After O’Hara pointed out he’s got a Scottish accent, Bob said: “I tell you, Jamie, I’m sitting in the car just now driving across the border to get to London with my Three Lions on the shirt.”

Ex-Spurs midfielder O’Hara said: “This has got to be a wind-up. Who is this

“Bob, I’m not having it.

“You’re Scottish but you’re an England fan?”

Bob then said: “I was born in Scotland. I cannot help that.

“But what I can do in life is decide the team and the nation I want to follow.”

O’Hara said: “No, Bob. You can’t do that. You’re born in Scotland, you’re Scottish – you support Scotland. That’s your nation.”

The Rangers fan claimed that he doesn’t have to support Scotland and was backed by ex-Wales player Saunders, saying he can “turn against his country if he wants”.

O’Hara continued: “No, he can’t. He can’t do that. He’s Scottish.”

Bob was then asked which club he supports and when he replied with “Glasgow Rangers”, O’Hara broke out into laughter and again said that he’s on the wind-up.

Bob’s voice then got higher and higher as he said: “No, I’m not on a wind-up.

“I tell you, I kid you not because I won’t lie, I’m wearing my England strip now as I’m driving towards the border. I have an England flag in my back garden and my son, Harry, is England daft.”

Support who you want

We don’t care if you’re a Catholic who supports Rangers, a Scot who supports England or a Manc who supports Liverpool – support who you want to support.

Football isn’t quite the life and death sport that everyone seems to think it is and you don’t have to follow the team your dad does or even go for your local one.

That’s the beauty of the game these days – it’s international.

It’s just as easy for Scotland fan to watch an England game or a Kenya national game as it is watching Steve Clarke’s side getting bombed out of World Cup qualifying by Ukraine.

What a night that was for Ukraine, by the way.

Scotland’s players were absolutely terrible in the 3-1 defeat but the war-torn nation now has just Wales standing in their way to earn a spot at the World Cup.

Of course, we would have liked Scotland to qualify and earn a spot in the World Cup to play against England in the group stages in Qatar.

However, if anyone was going to knock us out, we’re glad it was Ukraine and we hope they smash Wales to book their spot in the 2022 World Cup.

In other Rangers news, the Gers have agreed a compensation fee for Leicester to hire this behind-the-scenes man at Ibrox.
