Connor Goldson shares emotional reaction after signing new Rangers deal
Rangers defender Connor Goldson has penned an emotional message on Instagram after he signed a new contract on Wednesday (1 June).
Goldson, who was set to be out of contract this summer, attracted interest from the Premier League, but he has now signed a four-year deal at the club.
The 29-year-old has suggested that there were a lot of negative comments said about him, and there were lots of rumours on his future, but he let his football to do the talking for him.

Goldson wrote on Instagram: “There’s been so many rumours, so many fake articles, so many negative comments. I haven’t once said a thing. I tried to concentrate on football and all I wanted to do was win!
“I’ve took one week to make my decision, my dream as a kid was to play week in week out in the premier league, but rangers football club has become a big part of mine and my families lives. The expectations, the standards, the need to win. It’s something I love and have become used to. A massive thank you to my wife for helping me, my agent for trusting me, and the club to keep believing in me. I hope we continue this memorable journey together!”
Superb
What a start to the summer!
First Steven Davis, and now this.
Goldson has been ever-present for the Gers since joining from Brighton in 2018.
The centre-back won the Scottish Cup with Rangers at the end of the season and was pivotal in the club’s run to the Europa League final.
There was a feeling that Goldson could leave the club this summer, as both the parties couldn’t agree to a deal despite holding several rounds of discussion.
However, it seems the hunger to win trophies has been the main motivation for the centre-back to sign a new deal at the Ibrox club.

Goldson must have realised that he could win more trophies in his career at Rangers than moving to a mid-table Premier League club.
For Rangers, this is massive. Giovanni van Bronckhorst has his defence sorted, especially with John Souttar joining the club as a free agent.
If the Gers can hold on to Calvin Bassey this summer, they will have a terrific defensive set-up in the league.
In other Rangers news, Stan Collymore has lashed out at a Gers fan after a “libellous” accusation about sectarianism.
