Rangers doctor Mark Waller to join Leicester City after compensation agreed
Rangers doctor Mark Waller is leaving Ibrox to join the medical team at Leicester City, according to Telegraph journalist John Percy.
Writing via his personal Twitter account on 1 June, Percy reported that Dr Waller, 64, is heading south of the border after Leicester agreed a compensation deal with Rangers for his appointment.
It is understood that Dr Waller’s move to the King Power “is regarded as a huge coup ahead of” the 2022/23 season.
Good luck, Dr Waller
It’s not very often you get to read about a change in the medical staff at any club.
Dr Waller is clearly one of the best in his profession at football clubs for his move to Leicester to be reported on and dubbed as a “huge coup”.
As Percy points out, the English doctor has previously worked for England’s Under-21s, Liverpool and Aston Villa. He was brought to Ibrox in 2018 by Steven Gerrard after spending the bulk of his medical career on Merseyside.
Dr Waller helped save Gerard Houllier’s life back in 2001 when he was at Liverpool and also helped Djibril Cisse overcome that infamously horrible leg break.

At Rangers, his work would have no doubt been cut out for him due to the continual injury issues over the last year for players like Ryan Jack, Kemar Roofe and Filip Helander.
Aaron Ramsey could have been the final staw for Dr Waller.
In all seriousness, he might be looking to move back to an area of the country that’s closer to home as he was born in Northampton.
We wish Dr Waller all the best at Leicester City, where he’ll work along Brenden Rodgers – another former Liverpool man he’s likely to have known from his time at Anfield.
In other Rangers news, Stan Collymore has lashed out at a Gers fan after a “libellous” accusation about sectarianism.
