The veteran stopper may have played his last game for the Ibrox outfit and it’s time the club consider a suitable replacement who’ll be there at the club for the foreseeable future.
Kovacevic, 24, is arguably the ideal person to take over between the sticks from McGregor as the 40-year-old appears to be on the cusp of retirement.
According to the Glasgow Evening Times, Gers are in the hunt to sign him this summer and his club are more than willing to let him go.
They see this window as the ideal opportunity to cash in on his services as he’s entering the final two years of his contract.
The Rakow keeper has had an unbelievable season and given his age, he could be an incredible long-term investment from the club.
He’s conceded fewer than a goal on an average per game this season and his shot-stopping abilities are unquestionable.
He has an xGA [Expected Goals Against] per 90 of 1.05 and has just conceded 0.82 goals per game this season.
This shows that he’s exceeding expectations by quite some margin and does deserve the chance to prove himself at a bigger club.
Ross Wilson needs to act soon and get this one over the line before some of Europe’s other big sides swoop in for his services.
