Jose Mourinho was keen on move for Rangers ace Ianis Hagi

Jose Mourinho was reportedly keen on bringing Rangers attacker Ianis Hagi to Roma in the January transfer window.

According to Sport RO, the Romania international got injured and missed the rest of the season because of it.

That’s what stopped Mourinho from amplifying his interest in the 23-year-old and he ended up staying put at Ibrox.

Worked for the best?

Hagi was undoubtedly a wanted man in January and could have even left the club if the right offer came their way.

However, due to his injury, he stayed at the club and will now have a chance to fight his way back into the team next season.

Early signs suggest that he will not be looking for a move away from the club this summer but that could change based on the calibre of team that wants to sign him.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst will surely be talking to him once the team returns from their pre-season break and it remains to be seen whether or not Hagi is convinced.

The Romanian is undoubtedly one of the most important players in this side and is a fan favourite too at the home of the 55-time champions.

Mourinho’s interest in the player is unlikely to dwindle and he may well be back looking to sign the versatile attacker once the summer transfer window opens in the month of June.

In other Rangers news, the club are ‘not convinced’ by a key first-team player and an early termination of his contract is extremely likely.
