Rangers must not re-sign Aaron Ramsey as talks begin to terminate his contract

Aaron Ramsey was an enormous letdown during his time at Rangers and things appear to be getting much worse for him in Italy.

According to Italian journalist Romeo Agresti via Twitter, The Welshman’s agent is in talks with Juventus, the club he was loaned to the Bears from for the second half of the season, over the potential termination of his £400,00 per week contract.

The 31-year-old has been thoroughly outcasted by the Old Lady and his penalty shootout miss in the Europa League heartbreak to hand the trophy to Eintracht Frankfurt won’t have helped his cause either here in Scotland or in Turin.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst was lauded for signing Ramsey in January because it seemed like Ibrox was the place he would find his mojo again but a struggle to remain fit every week and a number of sub-par performances has seen the majority of Light Blues fans be utterly let down.

If his contract is thrown into the shredder in the next few weeks, the boss could be tempted to try and make him a permanent Rangers player on a significantly lower wage than he’s earning currently but he needs to avoid that at all costs.

We have a very accomplished midfield department with John Lundstram and Joe Aribo the two standout players along with Scott Arfield and Ryan Jack who can also do the job.

We then turn to the youngsters of Alex Lowry and Charlie McCann who have both shown glimpses of real potential and the former could even be a starter as early as next season after his stellar start to his professional career at Ibrox.

With all of that talent, and maybe a new signing or two to boot, there is no room for Ramsey and after his penalty miss in Seville, he wouldn’t be welcomed back anyway.

In other Rangers news, we might not have even been called ‘Rangers’ had a different course been taken back in the 19th century as documents from the time are revealed.
