Rangers want to sign Cameron Humphreys this summer
Rangers are looking into signing free agent defender Cameron Humphreys this summer, as they prepare to receive bids for Calvin Bassey.
The Bears are set to lose influential defender Connor Goldson this summer as his contract expires, but have already sought to replace him by agreeing a deal for John Souttar to join on a free transfer from Hearts.
But now that there is big interest in Nigeria international Bassey, the club are looking for other defensive options and former Manchester City defender Humphreys has emerged as a target for the club according to the Daily Mail [May 27].

Humphreys will see his contract with the Premier League champions expire this summer, having spent the last year on loan with Zulte Waregem in Belgium.
The 23-year-old is also wanted by newly promoted side Bournemouth, as well as Championship sides Stoke City and Sheffield United and will cost nothing as a free agent.
Gamble
There’s not much known about Humphreys, but he once made headlines as a 16-year-old for Manchester City playing against Real Madrid in a pre-season friendly.
The player is able to play right back too but is primarily a centre-back, who stands at 6ft 1′ and is deceptively quick too, covering ground well and defending strongly in one v one situations.

He made 28 appearances in all competitions last season for the Belgian side as they finished in 16th place in the league and just about avoided relegation by four points.
A move to Rangers would be a big step up for the 23-year-old and would certainly not be an adequate replacement for any of the current first-team central defenders.
It would be a huge gamble from Rangers, even despite the fact it’s a free deal, and the club should be targeting a far higher level of player at this point.
