Rangers starlet Charlie McCann should earn first-team promotion after international call-up
Charlie McCann has played a couple of times already for Rangers since his move from Manchester United but he needs more games.
The 20-year-old played his first Scottish Premiership game for the Light Blues in the final game of the and he’s now been awarded a very special call-up.
Only recently did McCann switch his international allegiances from the Republic of Ireland to Northern Ireland but he has already been included in Ian Baraclough’s senior squad for their upcoming Nations League games [Northern Ireland Twitter].
The 20-year-old, who played the majority of his games for the B team this season, joins fellow Rangers midfielder Steven Davis in the international squad as well as former Gers striker Kyle Lafferty.
It is something of a surprise to see McCann in the senior squad already because he is yet to show his true potential in adult football with the Light Blues.
Maybe then this is a sign for Giovanni van Bronckhorst that the Coventry-born midfielder is ready to be promoted to the first team at Ibrox in place of his fellow Northern Irishman Davis.
At 37 years of age, Davis doesn’t have long left in his career so a replacement is needed eventually and who better than the kid who’s been mirroring him over the past few months.

The likelihood of him suddenly being a regular starter for the Scottish Cup champions is very minuscule, it would take a mass exodus for that to occur, but he can certainly have an impact off the bench, much like Alex Lowry has managed at times this season.
This summer transfer window might be the telling sign for McCann’s future as van Bronckhorst gets unleashed as Rangers boss for the first time and if a midfielder is signed, opportunities will be very limited.
In other Rangers news, the boss has no intentions on keeping this midfielder rat Ibrox and his contract could even be terminated as a result.
