Record-breaking deal on horizon for Rangers with Calvin Bassey interest – report

Rangers are set for another record-breaking fee given the mounting interest in Calvin Bassey this summer, according to The 4th Official.

The online source shared on Twitter that six clubs have serious interest in the Nigerian, and any deal may be worth £20million or more to the Bears.

It is suggested that Ross Wilson will now have to deliver during this window, with big money expected to come his way from potential outgoings after big success this season.

Rangers

Writing on their official Twitter account, The 4th Official shared what they expect to happen in the upcoming summer transfer window.

“Given that over six clubs are seriously interested in Calvin Bassey, I would be stunned if Rangers get anything less than £20m (on the low end) for the Nigerian,” they wrote.

“Another record-breaking fee on the horizon for Rangers as Wilson has to deliver in this transfer window.”

Record Breaking.

We all thought the money received for Nathan Patterson from Everton was huge, but Bassey could be about to stump that with relative ease after his breakthrough year.

Patterson was nothing more than a rotation option behind James Tavernier, but Bassey has made himself a near-guaranteed starter under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

The Nigerian can play at left-back and in central defence and was one of the main stars as we made it all the way to the Europa League final in Seville.

Rangers are holding all of the cards right now, and if any of those clubs want to do business, they will have to stump up huge money to get it done.

Steven Gerrard and Aston Villa have been strongly linked, and they have plenty of money to throw around, something that Wilson will need to take advantage of.

This is certainly one to watch, £25million or more has to be the asking price.
