BBC pundit moots quadruple Rangers exit in mass exodus this summer

Derek Ferguson believes that four senior Rangers players will be on their way out in an Ibrox exodus this summer.

The BBC pundit sees the likes of Conor Goldson, Steven Davis and Filip Helander leaving while Allan McGregor is expected to retire.

However, it’s not all doom and gloom as he predicts the club to retain the services of Calvin Bassey.

Speaking to Open Goal, he said, “I think it looks as though McGregor might retire.

“Goldson I think has played his last game.

“Davis? I think he’s still a top player and still got enough in the tank to go and play. But I don’t think he will [stay]. I think the three of them will be away.

“I don’t think Helander will be there, I can’t see that.”

Big changes

Ibrox is set to see a major upheaval in the first-team squad this summer.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has done a good job thus far but the real challenge begins now for him.

The Dutchman needs to build a squad in his own image and sign the players that fit into his philosophy.

If there are certain bad eggs that do not want to stay here then he must facilitate their exit and the earliest to smoothen things in the dressing room.

Should Gers manage to qualify for the Champions League via the qualifiers then they would be able to attract a better calibre of player.

However, until that happens, the window would be in its final days so they’ve got to assume that they’re not going to be able to use that lure.

In other Rangers news, the club are ‘not convinced’ by a key first-team player and an early termination of his contract is extremely likely.
