Brian Laudrup: Allan McGregor, Steven Davis and Connor Goldson to leave Rangers this summer

Brian Laudrup believes that at least three Rangers players will be on their way out of the club this summer.

In his view, the fates of Allan McGregor, Steven Davis and Connor Goldson are sealed and that their future lies away from Ibrox.

He also foresees big clubs coming in for the likes of Calvin Bassey, Joe Aribo and Ryant Kent while a number of players are now in the final years of their deal.

Speaking to the Scottish Daily Mail (May 25, Page 72), Laudrup said, “Now experienced players like Allan McGregor and Steven Davis could be leaving alongside Connor Goldson, while Alfredo Morelos, Joe Aribo, Ryan Kent, Ryan Jack and Filip Helander are entering the final 12 months of their deals.

“A big summer lies ahead and the board need to back Gio in the transfer market.

“But the European run could also help. Big clubs will now be looking at Rangers and seeing they have tremendous talent in their ranks like Calvin Bassey, who could play in any team in the world right now with the form he has been showing.

“Aribo scored in the final, Kent could play in a number of leagues. It’s going to be interesting to see where that leaves Rangers.”

Big summer

This summer could make or break the Rangers team for the next five years, at the very least.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst knows that a number of clubs are going to be interested in his players and it’s a battle to keep hold of them.

While he knows that not every player wanted by clubs will end up leaving, some could fancy moves to the Premier League.

Bassey appears to be wanted by Aston Villa and like Steven Gerrard, he may think of a move south of the border.

It remains to be seen if Gers can hold on to their key players as they have not qualified for the Champions League as well.

They will go through the qualifiers but there are no guarantees that they will make it to the group stages as it’s a tough path to Europe’s elite club competition.

In other Rangers news, the club are ‘not convinced’ by a key first-team player and an early termination of his contract is extremely likely.
