Allan McGregor’s Rangers future still up in the air with Barry Ferguson suggesting ‘he’s still got it in him’
Allan McGregor has “still got it in him” according to former Rangers captain Barry Ferguson, as question marks over the keeper’s future still remain.
McGregor was subbed on in the dying moments of the Scottish Cup final in what looked to be a farewell to the Ibrox faithful.
However, Ferguson believes McGregor still has it in him to perform for Rangers in the future.

As quoted by the Daily Record [25 May] whilst appearing on Go Radio, Ferguson said: “I would love him to stay and I still think he’s got it in him to play, I still think he’s a top goalkeeper.
“I’m hopeful he’ll stay for another year.”
Call it day
Too often players prolong their careers to the point where their performance begins to seriously decline.
McGregor must not fall into that category after potentially making his final Gers appearance in a cup final victory.
The keeper’s performance at the age of 40 has been remarkable, and he should call it a day whilst everybody at Rangers respects his ability.
Sadly, age will catch up with everybody and McGregor won’t be the keeper he is today in a few years’ time.

Furthermore, Giovanni van Bronckhorst needs to start planning for the future and having a 40-year-old keeper as his number one is hardly long term thinking.
The Rangers boss should look at bringing a younger keeper to become his established number one for the coming years.
McGregor must come to a decision on his future soon to prevent any uncertainty at the club.
He has had his time and will go down as a Rangers favourite but the former Scotland number one needs to move aside to aid the long term future of the club.
