Rangers are not pursuing signing of Vladan Kovacevic this summer
Rangers are not interested in a deal for Bosnian goalkeeper Vladan Kovacevic this summer, despite rumours claiming they have made a move.
Veteran goalkeeper Allan McGregor was emotional after the Europa League final defeat to Frankfurt last week and was given what seemed like a farewell at Hampden after the Scottish Cup final at the weekend too.
The 40-year-old is out of contract this summer and is pondering retirement, which means Giovanni van Bronckhorst must weigh up options for a replacement. But according to SunSport [May 24] Kovacevic is not someone under consideration.

The club have been linked with several goalkeepers including West Brom’s Sam Johnstone, Dundee United’s Benji Siegrist and Schalke’s Martin Fraisl.
But despite claims that Kovacevic will leave as his current club Rakow look to cash in [Glasgow Evening Times], he won’t be joining the Ibrox club whether McGregor makes the decision to play on or retire.
Logical
It’s clear that Rangers are in the market for a goalkeeper depending on whether or not McGregor chooses to walk away or not, but this seems like good agent work in fairness.
The player only has two years left on his contract at his current club and if they are keen to sell, then it’s down to agent to generate interest.

Knowing that Rangers need a goalkeeper and aren’t the biggest spenders, their client becomes a viable option and they can mention interest to get other parties more involved.
Rangers more likely to go for the other linked names because they’re of a better standard, so it’s not a shock that this rumour has been rubbished before it spiralled out of control.
There’s always the chance McGregor wants to return and win one more league title before he bows out too, so there’s a possibility that there is no goalkeeper arrival at all.
