Giovanni van Bronckhorst set to offer Nikola Katic Rangers lifeline

Giovanni van Bronckhorst is reportedly set to offer Nikola Katic a lifeline at Rangers ahead of next season.

According to Football Scotland, Hajduk Split have the option to buy the Croatian defender for £3million but are unlikely to exercise it.

Katic himself is keen on an Ibrox stay and would have snubbed any offers for another season at the club.

Van Bronckhorst is believed to test him in pre-season before making a final decision about his future.

Makes sense

The report claims that the 25-year-old is a fan favourite at Ibrox and is expected to be welcomed back to the club with open arms.

While he may not be at the top of most fans’ list, they will take him as a squad option and hope that he can fight for a place in the first team.

He’s shown the determination to win his spot back and the Dutchman would have noticed it by now.

However, it remains to be seen if performances on the pitch can match his mentality as they’re two very different things.

We do think that it will work out but do not see him featuring as much as he would want to.

This could be why he changes his mind and then fancies a move either to an English club or another European club as there has been some interest in his services throughout his loan spell.

In other Rangers news, the club are ‘not convinced’ by a key first-team player and an early termination of his contract is extremely likely.
