Rangers striker Cedric Itten could head back to Switzerland with Young Boys
Swiss striker Cedric Itten could be set to leave Rangers this summer with a return to his homeland in the offing with BSC Young Boys.
According to Glasgow World, the Swiss outfit, who played Champions League football last season and beat Manchester United, want to perform a major overhaul of their squad having only finished third in the Swiss Super League behind FC Zurich and FC Basel.
Itten has been identified as one of their potential targets having scored 19 goals in 34 league games for St Gallen before joining the Light Blues in 2020.

The 25-year-old played just six games in the Scottish Premiership this season, scoring his only goal in the Gers’ final game away at Hearts as Giovanni van Bronckhorst heavily rotated his side ahead of two cup finals in the upcoming week.
He spent the first half of the season with Greuther Furth in the Bundesliga but he was recalled in January having failed to make an impression in Germany. Furth were relegated bottom of the league with just 18 points to their name.
No use
Towards the end of the season, van Bronckhorst had a major problem in that both Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe were injured, leaving Itten the only senior striker at the club.
But it said an awful lot about his ability that our manager would rather play Joe Aribo, a natural central midfielder, as a false nine through the middle rather than a proper striker.

If the Swiss international, who somehow has four goals in seven caps, was ever going to be a success at Ibrox then he would comfortably start ahead of Aribo in a position that the Nigerian isn’t wholly comfortable in.
Morelos’ future is on tenterhooks with his contract ending in 12 months and clubs circling to potentially sign him this summer but Roofe is set to remain at the club so there is very little reason why van Bronckhorst should want to keep him around.
If Young Boys do make an offer to sign him, then let’s bid him farewell and very rapidly move on to the new faces that will be arriving in Glasgow this transfer window.
