Rangers loanee Amad Diallo singles out Fashion Sakala in farewell message

Amad Diallo has played his final game for Rangers as he bid farewell the club and a specific player on Instagram on Monday (23 May).

The 19-year-old winger endured a tricky few months in Glasgow having arrived on loan from Manchester United at the end of the January transfer window but he began to find his feet in the final few games of the league season.

Despite the topsy-turvy nature of his time at Ibrox, the Ivorian was grateful for his time in Scottish football and targeted his farewell message on social media at Fashion Sakala having developed something of a bromance with his fellow winger.

Diallo shared a collection of images, including the duo holding the Scottish Cup at Hampden Park, on his stories on Monday 23 May with the caption “it was a pleasure my friend, forever friends.”

He is set to return to Old Trafford in the summer where Erik Ten Hag will decide where his immediate future lies when pre-season begins.

Shame

Diallo arrived in Scotland with plenty of hype surrounding him and he started well with a goal away at Ross County, three minutes into his debut but it very quickly came to a halt.

That 3-0 defeat at Celtic was the catalyst for Giovanni van Bronckhorst to change things and the teenager was one of those to be replaced at half-time and he never got a proper look in after that awful night at Parkhead.

Rangers

He did get a few substitute appearances throughout the rest of the season but he wasn’t trusted to start anymore by the Dutchman despite a couple more goals in the latter part of the campaign.

Rangers might miss his pace and direct running next season if they aren’t able to find a replacement although Sakala himself has proved to be a menace on the ball, similarly to Ryan Kent (albeit without the end product just yet).

In other Rangers news, one of the club’s younger players has penned a new deal at Ibrox despite a less-than-impressive 2021-22 season.
