James Tavernier reveals what he told Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack before Hearts clash

Rangers ended the season on a high after winning the Scottish Cup against Hearts last week.

Ryan Jack scored a thunderbolt while Scott Wright added another in the extra time as the Gers sealed a 2-0 win.

The Bears skipper James Tavernier has described Jack’s goal as “unbelievable”, further revealing what he told him in the morning ahead of the match.

“We knew if we took them to extra-time, we were fitter than them,” said Tavernier, as quoted by The Daily Record (23 May, page 38).

“It was an unbelievable strike from Jacko. I said to him at breakfast, ‘You’ll have a part to play today’. Then Scotty with a great strike. It’s unbelievable.”

Big summer ahead

Giovanni van Bronckhorst should now turn his attention toward his biggest task – that is rebuilding the squad.

This is his first summer transfer window at Ibrox, and he is expected to get full support from the board after an incredible season, that saw them finishing up as runners up in the Europa League.

He needs to make a bold decision on the players whose contracts are expiring shortly – the likes of Connor Goldson, Allan McGregor and Steven Davis.

Then, he needs to make decisions on players who have only a year on their contract. The likes of Alfredo Morelos, Joe Aribo, Ryan Jack et al fall in that category.

He wants to bring in new faces at the club in the summer, but sorting out the contract situations is important.

Jack has been superb for the club, and he has also played a key role under Van Bronckhorst this season.

In all probability, the club will try to reach an agreement with him over a new deal in the coming months.

In other Rangers news, the German media has reacted to the Europa League final scenes, branding them a “scandal”.
