James Tavernier makes fitness claim after Rangers extra time Scottish Cup win over Hearts
James Tavernier believes Rangers ‘knew’ they were fitter than Hearts after their Scottish Cup extra-time triumph over the Edinburgh side.
Two goals in three minutes from Ryan Jack and Scott Wright saw the Gers end the season with silverware.
Rangers captain Tavernier felt that Rangers had the upper hand as soon as the match went into extra time.

As quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times [22 May], Tavernier said: “We knew if we took them to extra time we were fitter than them.
“We kept going, kept pushing and we did it.”
What a season
What an unbelievable season for Rangers and their supporters.
The Gers were inches away from European success, but to finish the season with a trophy after falling away in the League was a must.
For Giovanni van Bronkhorst to rejuvenate his players after their Frankfurt defeat displays how well he has done since taking over at Ibrox.
It is clear that Rangers have focussed intensely on cup competitions this season after falling behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.

After a summer transfer window, it is crucial that van Bronkhorst makes Rangers as competitive as he can on as many different fronts as possible.
The Ibrox faithful have had an incredible journey in Europe of late, however, they will not accept Celtic’s unerring domestic dominance for much longer.
The Europa League has been an acceptable distraction, next season the Gers need to be more competitive in the League title fight.
If Rangers can keep the core of their side together, develop some of their excellent youngsters and add a few quality additions then they will certainly give Celtic a challenge.
