BBC Sportscene pundit Charlie Adam stunned by ‘Incredible’ Scott Wright v Hearts

Charlie Adam was left stunned by Rangers forward Scott Wright on Saturday afternoon [21 May] as his goal helped lift the Scottish Cup against Hearts.

The BBC pundit was amazed by the “incredible” run made by the winger in extra-time as he burst into the final third and smashed it low past Craig Gordon.

Adam also shared how Steven Gerrard believed Wright needed to gain weight to help his physicality after arriving, something he believes has now happened for the better.

Speaking live on BBC Sportscene on Saturday evening [21 May], Adam was stunned by the effort on show from Wright to burst into the final third.

“It was a brilliant goal,” he said.

“This is an unbelievable effort, the hunger and desire to run that length of the pitch, it was a poor pass from Kent really. “It was a great first touch, and it’s a wonderful finish.

“Scott Wright, Steven brought him into the club, and he thought that physically he had to build him up.”

Rangers

Incredible.

Wow, the conditioning of these players is something else.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has taken the fitness of the squad to another level since arriving at the end of last year, and that has been very clear to see over the past couple of months.

After going to penalties in the baking Seville heat only a matter of days before this cup final, you would have thought it would have been the Hearts players making runs like this in extra time.

Instead, they look dead on their feet and couldn’t handle the running of our squad as they simply took control of the final and made yet another extra time period look easy.

Ending the season on a high was imperative for this squad after losing the league and the Europa League, and they will now hopefully move forward full of confidence ready for the summer.

First up will be the Champions League qualifiers, and it’s time to right some wrongs.
