BBC man Tom English: Allan McGregor likely to retire, Connor Goldson ‘certain’ to leave Rangers this summer
Tom English has insisted that Rangers will be without Connor Goldson and Allan McGregor next season with big changes expected at Ibrox.
The BBC journalist is expecting McGregor to retire after coming on for his swansong in the final minute of extra time of the Scottish Cup victory over Hearts this weekend.
As well as that, English predicted that Goldson is “certain” to leave when his contract expires and move on to another club after years of success in Glasgow.

Writing in his latest column for the BBC, English shared what he expects to happen to the Rangers squad in the coming months at Ibrox.
“What lies ahead? McGregor, you have to imagine, is about to retire,” he wrote.
“Connor Goldson, it looks certain, is about to leave. Loan players will return to their parent clubs. Some stellar names are in the final year of their contract and might be sold. Ahead of the Champions League qualifiers and the beginning of a new domestic season, there will be comings and goings.
“That’s for the weeks ahead. Right now, they could do with a rest. After a marathon season, they’ve earned a lie down before rising up and going again.”

Perfect?
If this is the last time we have seen this duo, it was brilliant to do it by winning silverware.
McGregor didn’t give a concrete answer over his future and did admit he could stick around beyond this season, but coming on for a minute at the end didn’t make it look like that.
We all knew that Goldson’s contract expired at the end of this season, and if he wanted to stay, we expect it would have been signed and completed weeks or months ago.
Instead, he looks set to move on with John Souttar already looking like his replacement having signed a pre-contract back in the January window.
There will be plenty of interest in our biggest names once again like Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos, Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey too, and they all can’t leave.
Ross Wilson is set to be working in overdrive along with Giovanni van Bronckhorst, and they have to be smart to prepare us for yet another huge season ahead.
