Ally McCoist: Peter Haring deserved red card in Rangers v Hearts
Ally McCoist believes that Hearts midfielder Peter Haring deserved to be sent off in the cup final against Rangers.
Haring caught Calvin Bassey with a bad challenge in the fourth minute of the contest and only got a yellow for his indiscretions.
The Rangers players clearly wanted a different colour and McCoist believes that with VAR, he could have indeed been on his way off.

He said, via the Scottish Sun, “At first I didn’t think it was that bad from where we are standing.
“But Connor Goldson’s reaction made me think it was worse than we first thought – and it was.
“Haring overstretches and catches Bassey on the ankle.
“With VAR next season, it’s probably a red card.”
Clear red
The official was under tremendous pressure to make such a big decision that early in the game.
He knew that if he sent him off, the scrutiny would be huge as Gers would by and large cruise to victory.
Had it been in the second half, even with the score at 0-0, we believe he would’ve shown him the red card.
Thankfully, with VAR, things like this would not happen again and on a second look at the incident, the referees could make a better decision.
This time the Austrian got lucky but such challenges will be punishable next season and that’s precisely the way things should be from here on in.
In other Rangers news, the club are ‘not convinced’ by a key first-team player and an early termination of his contract is extremely likely.
