German media reacts to Rangers v Eintracht Frankfurt Seville ‘scandal’
The treatment of Rangers and Eintracht Frankfurt supporters during the Europa League final was dubbed a “scandal” by German outlet Kicker.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side fell to a 5-4 defeat on penalties after 120 minutes of football saw both sides stalemated at 1-1 but it was the hospitality at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan stadium that has received a lot of focus in the aftermath of the final.
The night was made worse for the Light Blues fans who not only lost the game but many of which left the stadium in “silence and exhausted” due to the heat and lack of water.

There were several small kiosks open but they closed prior to kick-off and when “desperate” fans tried to gain access, Spanish police arrived with batons.
Kicker has slammed the Sevilla staff for the lack of preparation ahead of the final, saying they should have been ready for the high volume of fans needing water in the increasingly hot stadium that put fans in a “headlock”.
Ridiculous.
British football fans are treated like animals when travelling abroad – that is one major takeaway from this season’s European adventure.
Admittedly, the Gers haven’t got the best reputation and Eintracht Frankfurt have caused a lot of trouble this season but why should the minority of idiots ruin it for everyone else?

All they wanted was a drink whilst they spent hours in the hot Spanish sun with a serious lack of shading in the stadium but that was too much to ask.
UEFA need to have a serious look at the situation and ask themselves why this was allowed to happen.
Shutting the small kiosks before the game had even kicked off is a joke of a decision and genuinely baffling.
You would have thought they would have wanted to sell as much as possible to make as much money.
The overall treatment of the fans was a disgrace and something that needs looking at.
