View: Rangers in big trouble as Crystal Palace eye move for ‘huge asset’ Joe Aribo – report

Crystal Palace are eyeing a move for Rangers key midfielder Joe Aribo ahead of the summer transfer market, according to Alex Crook writing in his talkSPORT column.

The 25-year-old scored the decisive goal in the Europa League final but the Light Blues went on to lose 5-4 on penalties after Eintracht Frankfurt pegged them back.

Patrick Vieira is said to be a “big admirer” of the south London-born Nigeria international who fits the Eagles’ youth policy.

Aribo’s versatility is also considered a “huge asset” by the Selhurst Park boss who could replace Conor Gallagher with Everton eyeing a move for the Englishman.

No thanks.

Hopefully, this is just speculation because it would be a massive shame if the Rangers squad was decimated after the season they have just had.

That is the problem when you do well on the big stage – everyone is watching you, looking at how good your players are.

The Gers are huge but in the grand scheme of things, there are bigger clubs out there with massive amounts of money at their disposal that they simply can’t keep up with.

That is why as soon as one of their players shows brilliant form or signs of potential, they are snapped right up.

Aribo is so important to Giovanni van Bronckhorst and this team. His 19 goal involvements across all competitions this season speak for itself.

If he doesn’t leave in the summer, the Bears should look to tie him down to a new contract with his current deal expiring at the end of next season.

That way, they can bump up the price for their mainstay and use that money to reinvest back into the squad.

Hopefully, though, he stays because he is a vital piece in the Light Blues’ puzzle.

In other Rangers news, Ally McCoist has been left baffled by a massive GVB decision in Europa League final.
