Barry Ferguson: Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor must start v Hearts
Barry Ferguson has showered praise on Rangers veterans Allan McGregor and Steven Davis.
Davis was superb in the Europa League final against Eintracht Frankfurt where the Gers lost in the penalty shoot-out after coming off the bench.
Ferguson suggests that McGregor deserves a chance to end his career with Gers on a high by winning the Scottish Cup against Hearts.

Rangers have used Jon McLaughlin in the domestic cup games so far, but Ferguson feels, McGregor must start against Hearts at Hampden Park.
“What I would also say is my two old team-mates Steven Davis and Allan McGregor don’t deserve to go out on a low like this one,” wrote Ferguson for The Daily Record.
“When Davo came on I felt he turned the game in Rangers’ favour. For the first time all night, I felt able to sit back down in my seat and have a sip of beer. He had that midfield under control and, if I were Gio, I’d already have his name on my teamsheet for the Scottish Cup Final.
“As for Greegsy, he absolutely has to start even though Jon McLaughlin has been selected all the way through.
“Big Jon’s time will come. But if this really is to be the end for my old mate then he deserves nothing less than to go out with one last trophy in his hands.”
Last game?
McGregor has been a great player for the club and it remains to be seen what he does next.
At 40, he is at the fag end of his career, and there is a chance that he might hang up his boot.
In that case, McGregor has only one more game left to end his career.
He had a great chance to lift the Europa League trophy, but the Gers lost in the final.

Now, he has another chance to win a trophy by beating Hearts.
However, Giovanni van Bronckhorst could start with the second choice goalkeeper, as he has played upto this point, and it will be very harsh to deny him a chance to lift the trophy.
While Ferguson may think that his old teammate may not get another opportunity to lift the trophy, the Dutchman may think differently.
Davis, however, could play some part though. He has a contract at the club till the end of the season, and as of now, there’s no new offer on the table.
