‘Walk tall’ – Michael Beale praises Rangers players despite Europa League heartbreak
Former member of the Rangers coaching staff Michael Beale has urged the players to ‘walk tall’ despite suffering defeat in the final of the Europa League.
The Gers came out on a losing side in the grand finale on penalties against Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday.
After the match, Beale, who was a part of the backroom staff during Steven Gerrard’s coaching reign, heaped praise on his former players in a post on social media, who according to him was ‘outstanding’ in the competition.

“You have been outstanding,” he wrote in a post on Instagram. “Walk tall and with your head high. You’re an amazing group of people.”

Tough outing
The defeat would be a tough one for Rangers players and the fans, especially because at one stage, they were leading the German club, courtesy of a goal from Joe Aribo in the 57th minute.
However, that lead didn’t last long as just 12 minutes later, striker Rafael Borré equalised for Eintracht Frankfurt.
Despite the loss, the Rangers fans will be extremely proud of the players’ achievement in the competition where no one expected them to make it this far.
The Gers finished the campaign scoring the most goals (23), even more than the eventual champions who ended with 21 goals.
Most of this credit will go to club captain and defender James Tavernier who finished the competition as the leading scorer with seven goals to his name.
Those are the kind of things that manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst will be looking to strengthen further and build the team around for the next campaign.
