German media react to Eintracht Frankfurt win v Rangers in Europa League final, single out ‘Joker’ Kemar Roofe
German media has gone crazy for Eintracht Frankfurt keeper Kevin Trapp after his penalty save against Rangers handed his side the Europa League trophy.
BILD even singled out Bears talisman Kemar Roofe as a “joker” despite his small cameo over in Seville that almost led to the winner in the dying moments.
Roofe’s low cross just had to be tapped home by Ryan Kent, but the winger was denied from nothing short of four yards after busting a lung to get into the box.

Writing on their website, BILD went wild for Kevin Trapp while singling out a few of the Bears squad in their latest verdict on disappointment in Seville.
“Kevin Trapp (31) makes Eintracht Frankfurt the sensational winner of the Europa League in Seville. 5: 4 in the drama penalty shoot-out against Glasgow Rangers,” they wrote.
“The goalkeeper with two saves for eternity.
“118th minute: The Rangers storm on the right, Joker Roofe plays flat in the middle. Rangers professional Kent rushes up there, is faster than opponent Jakic and still has four meters to victory.
“But not with Trapp. With an unbelievable, instinctive sliding tackle, Trapp scrapes the ball away, destroying the mega-chance.”

Strange.
If it wasn’t for Trapp, we would likely have woken up with the silverware in our hands.
We have every reason to be as proud as ever of this bunch of players, who have made us dream again and put together one of the best European runs we have seen in decades against all odds.
Football can be a cruel game sometimes, though.
One lapse of concentration led to us conceding the equaliser, and Kent should likely have scored, no matter how good they make out this save to be.
Those two moments, along with Aaron Ramsey’s miss in the penalty shootout, were the difference between despair and qualifying for the Champions League next season.
We can’t be angry at that though, these players have given us everything and they deserve every last piece of credit in the world for what they have achieved.
