Simon Jordan hopes Rangers fans aren’t ‘the story’ during their time in Seville for the Europa League final
Simon Jordan doesn’t want Rangers fans to be “the story” during their trip to Seville for their Europa League final against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Thousands of Gers fans have travelled to Seville to support Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side in their first European final since 2008.
The 2008 final in Manchester was marred by riots and violence from the huge following of Rangers fans that made the trip south.

Jordan hopes that Rangers just make back page news as opposed to front-page news on Thursday morning.
Talking on talkSPORT White & Jordan [10:10 17, May], Jordan said: “The guardians of Seville [police] will not muck about, they don’t muck about in Spain in the same way they seem to muck about over here.
“I do hope that whilst there is an element of Rangers fans going over there to celebrate the occasion, the small element of fans who chose not to do that aren’t the story.”
A minority
It’s a sad reality that the vast majority of football fans are completely exempt from any criticism.
It is always the actions of a small minority that label an entire fan base with a bad name.
Pretty much all the Rangers fans that travel to Seville will be respectful and well-behaved.
It will be key for the fans out in Seville to discourage any individual that decides to act out of line.
The pleas for good behaviour that have been sent to Rangers fans have been somewhat patronising, but they needed to be sent.

The shocking behaviour during the Euros last summer by England fans and the 2008 final in Manchester means there is a definite reason for caution.
It would be refreshing for the final to remain solely focussed on what happens on the pitch and for very few stories to make the headlines off it.
The Gers fans have proven this season that they can be the difference for this side on their European run this season.
They will be looking to create an Ibrox like atmosphere at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan stadium on Wednesday [18 May].
