Rangers receive good luck video from music star Belinda Carlisle

Rangers have landed in Seville for the Europa League final on Wednesday (18 MaY) and they’ve received well wishes from an unlikely personality.

John Lundstram has been serenaded for much of this season by Rangers fans singing a song to the tune of Belinda Carlisle’s ‘Heaven Is a Place on Earth’, especially after his dramatic goal to send the Light Blues to the final against RB Leipzig.

And the music star has sent a message of good luck to the Gers ahead of Wednesday’s big game via a social media video.

Shared by Twitter user Allison Heutsche, the pop sensation said, “Hi, Belinda Carlisle here wishing John, Gio, Tav and everyone at Glasgow Rangers Football Club the very best of luck in Seville.”

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side will have to get the better of Eintracht Frankfurt to lift the trophy but they will be boosted by having beaten two Bundesliga sides already in their run to the final.

Motivation

As if those Rangers players needed any more motivation to take that trophy back home to Glasgow, here it is.

Whether Carlisle knows who Rangers or any of the players actually are is anybody’s guess because you can’t imagine that Scottish Premiership games are often broadcast on TV in Los Angeles.

Having said that, there is surely someone at the club who knows someone, who knows someone, who knows her and just maybe they could get her to Ibrox for the victorious celebrations should they overcome Frankfurt in Seville.

Just imagine the bewilderment on her face when she starts singing her signature tune and she’s drowned out by a sold-out Ibrox chanting something completely different.

First and foremost, we’ve got to get the job done in Spain and beat our third German team of the season to stamp our name in the Champions League group stages for next season and reach for the stars after that.

In other Rangers news, there will be over 18,000 Gers fans in the stadium on Wednesday.
