Kris Boyd says Rangers won’t be fazed by Eintracht Frankfurt in final

Kris Boyd is adamant that Rangers will not be fazed by Eintracht Frankfurt as they prepare for the Europa League final in Seville.

Wednesday [May 15] sees Giovanni van Bronckhorst go head-to-head with the Bundesliga outfit for the trophy and a place in the Champions League.

The Sky Sports pundit believes that the Light Blues deserve a lot of credit given Scottish football’s lack of financial power in comparison to the other elite nations and leagues.

He told Sky Sports: “I think it’s fantastic for a Scottish club to be back in a European final.

“When you look at what has gone on at Rangers over the years – I think it’s great for Scottish football.

“I’m not sure everyone will be supporting Rangers but Scottish football as a whole is in a good place right now and none more so than Rangers coming here [Seville] to represent Scotland in a European final.”

He added: “You’ve got to take that into context as well.

“When you look at the clubs that have been dominating, winning European trophies, it’s very difficult for any Scottish team to compete.

“You’ve got to give Rangers a lot of credit for being able to get the results that they’ve had so far in Europe – they’ve got one more step to go and if they can do that it will be an unbelievable achievement.

“When you look at the teams that Rangers have had to overcome, they have had to do it the hard way.

“They won’t be fazed by facing Eintracht Frankfurt either.”

Win it.

All of the hard work is done – Rangers have made it through the groups and defied all odds by beating a host of quality sides in the knockout stages – all they have to do now is go and win the final.

With that being said, it is going to be an extremely tough game considering that the Germans are unbeaten in the Europa League despite playing Barcelona and West Ham in the last two rounds.

The Gers aren’t quite unbeaten but they have swept aside many of their alone elite opponents – including Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig who both sit way above Frankfurt in the league.

This game is absolutely huge and hopefully, the Bears can make it over the line. They will have to deal with the immense pressure of the game being decided in one game – rather than over two legs – and with it being at a neutral venue after benefiting massively from the Ibrox atmosphere throughout the tournament.

This is not only season-defining, it is history-making for van Bronckhorst’s players.

In other Rangers news, Scott Wright has put the pressure on Rangers’ “big player” to step up in the final in Seville.
