Keith Jackson shares if Alex Lowry will play in Rangers v Hearts at Hampden

Keith Jackson has suggested that Rangers youngster Alex Lowry is good enough to start against Hearts in the Scottish Cup final at Hampden.

The Gers have lost the league title to Celtic, but they can end the season on a high with two cup wins – the Europa League and the Scottish Cup.

The Scottish Cup final will be played three days after the Europa League final, and the team selection will largely depend on how the Gers fare in Seville.

Jackson, the columnist for the Daily Record, suggested that the youngster has got “some future” ahead of him and that he could feature against Hearts.

“That will depend on what shape they are in when coming back from Spain. If too many tanks have been emptied Lowry is more than equipped to step up against Hearts in the Scottish Cup final. This kid has some future ahead of him,” Jackson wrote for The Daily Record (16 May, page 38).

Why not?

Lowry has always impressed every time he took the pitch.

The 18-year-old is a fantastic talent who is known for his ability to pick passes. He brings raw energy to the pitch and he is so exciting to watch.

He was superb against Hearts in the last game, and he should get a chance to play in the final.

However, Jackson has rightly said that it all depends on what conditions the Gers players will return after the final in Seville.

This is arguably the biggest game of the season for the Gers, and they are currently not thinking about anything else. If they can win the final, irrespective of their conditions, the players will be hungry for more success.

However, if the Gers lose the final, the Gers players may struggle to motivate themselves for the Scottish Cup final at Hampden Park.

Van Bronckhorst will demand full effort from his players, and may start with Lowry if he feels one or two senior players need a prolonged rest.

In other Rangers news, One 25-year-old could now be deemed as surplus to requirements at Ibrox this season.
